Acceptance testing is not only the wrap-up of the project, but the beginning a lifelong understanding of the health of your electrical system. The purpose of this presentation is to get a better understanding of the requirements, where they come from, proper installation and base-line data for future maintenance, why you preform each test, test methods, understanding specific testing specifications, and maintenance of equipment subject to long intervals between shutdowns.

Scott received his BS in Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He has over 28 years of engineering and management experience working for ABB, Allen Bradley, and FluidIQs System Integration. He is currently the manager for Eaton’s Electrical Service and System group in Livermore, CA

For the rental portion, our speaker Chris Fry will bring along a 60 kw rental unit for some hands on presentation and discussion. He will discuss rating requirements, cabling requirements, output voltage capabilities, site access, re-fueling requirements, environmental issues (noise levels, emissions and fuel storage) and general cost information.  

For the start and test portion, our speaker John Boro will discuss examples from specifications based on his experience, as well as some of the obstacles and challenges in meeting the specification.  He will discuss reactive vs resistive load bank testing at the jobsite, placement of the load bank, access to the site, NFPA 110 testing and coordination, transient monitoring and recording, fuel tank pressure testing and site readiness for the test.

Invention ownership issues associated with patents in employer-employee relationships, marital relationships, partnerships, consulting arrangements, and researcher-university arrangements. Topics include consideration of licensing issues including the transfer or assignment of patents. The presentation will focus on common issues or pitfalls to be aware of in employment relationships. Common scenarios in the corporate or other employment settings will be discussed to practically highlight the considerations behind effective protection of your ownership interests in intellectual property. In addition, the presentation will touch upon inventions made under Government contracts and how patent ownership can be affected in such situations when a university, non-profit, or small businesses are a party to the contract.

Al Gess, Esq., is a partner at the Law Firm of Snell & Wilmer in Orange County, CA. His practice is concentrated in litigation and transactional work in the areas of patent, trademark, trade secret, unfair competition, copyright, and related contract law. He received his Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Detroit in 1966 and his juris doctorate from American University, Washington College of Law in 1971.
